Occupational Therapy Speaker Series: Karen Katzman, MA, OTR/L, C-SIPT, DIR

Description: Rehabilitation Therapy Club is delighted to invite Karen Katzman for a special speaker discussion. Karen is the owner of Manhattan East Associates, Inc. Pediatric Occupational Therapy. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from Boston University's College of Health & Rehabilitation Sciences: Sargent College of Allied Health. After years of working in the field in hospitals, outpatient clinics, and home settings, Karen received her advanced post professional Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy at New York University with a concentration in pediatric neurology. Karen has completed her Sensory Integration Certification (SIPT) and courses that focuses on Therapeutic Listening, Handwriting, Visual Motor and Perception, Reflex Integration, DIR Floortime, Attention Deficit Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity disorder, Mindfulness, executive functioning, SOS approach to feeding, interventions for individuals with Autism, developmental delays, and sensory processing and modulation difficulties.
With over 20 plus years of experience, Karen has treated both children and adults in many settings such as schools, clinics, hospitals, home care, early intervention, and of course her private pediatric sensory integrative clinic for over twenty years. Karen has lectured extensively to parents, teachers, early childhood professionals and occupational therapy students on child functional development, sensory integration and processing, and the importance of perception and purposeful activity. She is excited to be celebrating her twentieth year in her private practice! Karen is a champion and warrior for the children and families she works with. Her passion for facilitating function, social-emotional development, and parent-child interactions is still as strong today as it was 20 years ago! Join us as Karen discusses her experience as an occupational therapist!
