Description: |
For anyone who is thinking of having a medical practice -- it is like starting a business. The same way a hospital would look at where to locate their facilities in terms of demographics, competition, convenience for patients, drawing in top clinicians -- these things can come into play for a smaller practice. Also understanding from an entrepreneur both what it takes to start a business, how medical technology gets launched and how it may affect patient care, or how health data can be used for good care (or misused) are all valuable. So it's not just relevant to "Business" but it is relevant to clinical practice too. Join us for an engaging discussion featuring panelists: Marcel Botha is Founder & CEO of 10XBeta , a product development and engineering firm working in consumer and enterprise electronics, medical devices, and specialized robotics. Margaret Burke is the Senior Vice President of Ambulatory Care and Hospital Operations, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center Peter Shanley is a co-founder, investor, and strategic advisor to CoverUS Health. Mark Shankar, MD is an Emergency Medicine Physician on faculty at Columbia University and currently in his second year at Harvard Business School. Thomas C. Ahn is the System Vice President for the Real Estate Division of the Mount Sinai Health System (Mount Sinai, St. Luke’s, Mount Sinai West - formerly Roosevelt Hospital, Beth Israel, Mount Sinai Brooklyn, New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, Mount Sinai Queens Hospital and The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai) a Seven hospital healthcare network with over 37,000 employees.
