Pre-Health Research Journal Club Meeting

Description: Join our student-member led discussions to learn out more about:
• Cell aging and pharmacological treatments that have shown to extend animal lifespan and healthspan through the activation of autophagy
• Microbiota dysregulation effect on depression, autism, stroke, Parkinson’s disease, and Alzheimer’s disease

Also, updates on how the club will resume in the Fall semester will be announced!

The papers being discussed in this meeting can be found in attachments.
Agenda:
1. Zara Nadeem, Emily Movsumova, Zahin Quayyum, Afsana Rahman, and Iana (Yana) Leshchynska are all rising sophomores from the Yalow Honors Program, and are all on the MD/Ph.D. tracks. They will present on: “Autophagy and Longevity”

2. David Arce is a rising sophomore majoring in psychology with a behavioral neuroscience concentration and hopes to pursue a career in neurology. He will present on: “Recent developments in understanding the role of gut microbiota in brain health and disease”.

3. A related discussion on both topics!
