Join us for our second official meeting of the Pre-Health Research Journal Club! Agenda: 1. Workshop on how to present a research article: • Students will receive a demonstration on how to analyze an article and convert it into simple terms to give a presentation on. There will be a walkthrough on how to develop an outline, analyze graphs, define terms, and how to prioritize information. We will be discussing a social science article in relation to racism within the U.S healthcare system. (please see attached: Systemic Racism and US Healthcare) 2. Discussion: COVID-19 and Systemic Oppression Impact on Health • Will be covering the social science aspects in relation to healthcare and the disparities present; such as an analysis of the impact on COVID-19 and healthcare services being denied to those of socioeconomically disadvantaged and colored backgrounds/neighborhoods. The discussion will also center on other healthcare updates such as the recent Transgender Healthcare Protection reversal and what this can mean for LGBTQIA+ communities as a whole.
